This post is my second post in my series on Spring Makeup Trends. Please be sure to read the first part of this series covering a Natural “No-Makeup”, Makeup Look.
In this post, I will be covering a trend I find quite fun – Colourful & Sparkly makeup. As the weather has started to get a bit warmer in some places (except London unfortunately!), you may notice a lot more outdoor festivals and events, along with these events you will very likely see more colourful, bright clothes and makeup.
If you are a makeup addict, then you should know a lot of makeup brands released so many bright, sparkly, and unicorn collections.
For example, Tarte just recently released their Make Believe in Yourself collection which includes a lot of colourful lip products, glittery eye products, and of course their unicorn brushes. I haven’t had a chance to get my hands on this collection yet, but I do have their unicorn brushes only which I would highly recommend.
As I’m writing a blog post about it, I figured it would be fun to try eye makeup with this spring makeup trend. I’m nowhere near as good as the makeup vloggers on YouTube, but I did enjoy playing with makeup. Here is a list of the products that I used and also some suggestions on other products that while I didn’t use this time, I feel like will help achieve these fun and colourful makeup trends.
For eye makeup, I used:
Urban Decay Full Spectrum Eyeshadow Palette
First of all, I would like to say how beautiful the packaging for this palette is! I love this palette! It has a a lot great selection of colours that I wouldn’t normally use for my everyday makeup routine. While I don’t normally use it, it’s nice to own colorful palette for special occasions. This palette is slightly pricey in my opinion, but the quality of Urban Decay eyeshadow palettes haven’t let me down so far. There are shimmer and matte colours in this palette, it’s fun to play with this palette whenever you feel like doing something colourful. For cheaper alternatives, I recommend the Smashbox covershot eye palettes in Bold. They have fewer options for the colour but seeing all the reviews about this palette, I feel like this palette will have excellent quality as well.
L’oreal Infallible Color Riche Crayon
This is a very nice quality waterproof eyeliner. The texture is very creamy which makes it easier to apply on my waterline. For eyeliner, I prefer to use a waterproof one. As much of a pain it is to remove at the end of the day, my eyes get watery very easily and unless I want to have panda eyes after few hours, I need it to be waterproof. Some waterproof eyeliner can still smudge very easily, but I can tell you that this is not one of them.
Max Factor Excess Shimmer Eyeshadow – 05 Crystal
I came across this eyeshadow at my local Superdrug store a day before I wrote this post, after I swatched it I instantly fell in love with it and had to buy it! I love how the shimmer looks glittery. I had so many ideas on how to apply this product for this look, I was thinking about making fake glitter freckles, but I didn’t want to make the look too heavy on the cheeks as I had already planned on applying pink highlighter, and I felt like I need a more colourful glitter to make the fake freckles.
Sleek Solstice Highlighting Palette
I can say this is one of the best drugstore highlighter palettes I’ve used, the quality is comparable with some of the more pricey highlighters. I usually like to mix all the three powder highlighters together for my everyday makeup, but for this look, I only used the pink shade. For other alternatives, I would definitely recommend Jefree Star Cosmetics Skin Frost, if you live in the UK you can get this highlighter from beautybay.
Which of the two trends in this series do you like more so far? I honestly like this colourful, glittery trend more than the natural “no makeup”, makeup look mainly because it’s very different from my everyday makeup routine! Playing with colours and glitter is so much fun!
